Meet Your Teacher
My name is Mrs. Barrese and I would like to welcome you to Third Grade. This is my 10th year teaching and sixthth year teaching third grade at Jackson Park. I am originally from Syracuse, NY. I attended SUNY Cortland University, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s degree in Health Education. Prior to teaching in North Carolina, I worked for the Migrant Education Outreach Program for 6 years. This was one of the most rewarding expierences of my life. In this program I was a little bit of everything. Some of the job descriptions were family advocacy, tutoring, and mentoring. My husband, Eric, and I moved here in 2007 and fell in love with North Carolina. We have two beautiful boys. Michael, who will be 4 in September, and Andrew just turned 1 in May.
A Little about my style.......
In my class it is important to me that each child not only has a voice, but is heard. My goal for my classroom is to allow the students to have a stable, loving, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, cognitively, and socially. As an educator it is my duty to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an atmosphere that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
