Literature Discussoins
It's so important to discuss and share our thoughts about what we read. Here we are reading a poem and discussing what we thought about the poem, what we felt about the poem, and what questions we have. We have many literature discussions throughout the year so that we can share our perception of the story, characters, problems, etc and we also get to hear another person's perspective of the story. Try having a literature discussion with your child at home, they love it!
We Can: participate in a research project to build knowledge about a topic! Check out us working in partners on our research project with our ipads. We look up our research on the website Mrs. Barrese provided us and record our answers to the questions on our paper.
WE CAN!!!!!
Our I CAN ceremony for the 1st quarter was wonderful! The kids were so proud and excited to show the parents all of their hard work!
Read To Someone
Students read to someone in a soft voice. They stop every page or so to check for understanding. This helps with the students fluency and comprehension skills.
Listen To Reading
Listening to reading helps build our vocabulary and comprehension skills.

HOW MANY TENS MAKE 100?
After reading the famous fairy tale of the Three Little Pigs, students had to build a house out of tens blocks. They then had to figure out what their house address was by counting all of the tens blocks.
Learning about Communities!
Let's check out our community of Kannapolis. We went on a tour of Kannapolis to see all of the great things our community has for us. We checked out the Dale Earnhardt Statue, the Water Treatment plant, transportation of Kannapolis, the Fire Station, the Police Station, we even had the Mayor of Kannapolis speak to us!!
